There is Tanabata in Korea, but it is a custom on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month. In Japan, the solar calendar is an anniversary. In Korea, there is a traditional fairy tale.
I already made a wish on 22 June. When I bought something from Sanrio store, the clerk said "July 7th is the day of making a wish!" and gave me a piece of paper with a character. I wrote my wish on the back and hung it on the tree. Actually, I am a Christian, but I participated because I like Japanese culture. If my wish really comes true, it would be amazing.
That is very cool! I don't think Tanabata violates any rules of The Church, so I hope your wish comes true!
